ZKL 3000 by a TSM

by A. Calvert.

"I was first introduced to the ZKL 3000 at a presentation given to me and my team at the depot by Dual Inventive in June 2011. Also present was Networkrail Business Improvement Specialist Trevor Webb. I was impressed by the product and could see a lot of potential for it in my area. My initial thoughts were to use it for patrolling duties.

With the help of Trevor Webb we set up a training session for the ZKL 3000 and in late July I had 6 of my guys trained up to deploy ZKL 3000.

My original plan to use for patrolling was delayed because of holidays, roster’s and the bulk of my planned walkouts were already programmed into pre-booked T3’s  so I started to look at other possibilities for the ZKL 3000. In early September an opportunity came up to remove a rail defect on the Penistone Brach which would have normally done using a T3 possession but we put the plan together to do it under line blockage using ZKL 3000.

The ZKL 3000 was deployed and was a great success, .....
